Pakistan faces a significant health crisis, with over 100 million adults classified as overweight or obese, prompting warnings from health experts at a recent event in Karachi. They emphasized that obesity leads to serious conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease, and must be urgently addressed.
Prof. Waseem Hanif highlighted that South Asians are at higher risk for obesity-related issues, suggesting that the ideal BMI for this population should be around 23. He introduced tirzepatide, a groundbreaking treatment that can reduce body weight by up to 25% when combined with lifestyle changes.
