Member Customs (Ops) Syed Shakeel Shah and Collector Enforcement, Karachi Customs, Dr. Fareed Ahmed, called on the Chairman, Karachi Port Trust (KPT), at the KPT Head Office. During the meeting, officials from both sides discussed various operational and administrative issues common to both Customs and KPT. The Chaiman KPT applauded the relentless support of Customs officals in supporting record breaking cargo clearance operations at KPT during ongoing Middle East crisis.
The Member Customs also highlighted that the Chairman FBR and senior FBR officials will hold monthly meetings in Karachi with the business community and Port/Terminal operators to resolve issues and devise strategies to facilitate ease of doing business. The Chairman KPT also appreciated the Member’s Customs proactive approach for resolution of various long pending issues pertaining to KPT including massive scrap auction by Customs.
The Member Customs and Chairman KPT reaffirmed their commitment to maintain close coordination to further streamline business processes and facilitation measures. The Member Customs also emphasized that the Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and senior FBR officials will hold monthly meetings in Karachi with the business community and port/terminal operators to address concerns and develop strategies to facilitate ease of doing business. The Chairman of KPT further appreciated the proactive approach taken by the Member Customs in resolving several long-standing issues related to KPT, including the substantial scrap auction conducted by Customs.
Both the Member Customs and the Chairman of KPT reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close coordination to enhance the business process and facilitate measures for the business community..
