The Aga Khan Foundation Pakistan, in partnership with Bank Alfalah, has initiated a rehabilitation program to restore infrastructure and enhance resilience in flood-affected communities across Gilgit-Baltistan. The event was attended by key stakeholders, including UAE Ambassador Salem Mohammed Alzaabi and representatives from various international organizations.
The initiative, responding to the devastating August 2025 floods, aims to repair drinking water supply systems, irrigation channels, and construct flood mitigation structures. With a project budget of PKR 57.05 million—PKR 50 million from Bank Alfalah and PKR 7.05 million from the Aga Khan Foundation—it will directly benefit over 10,600 individuals and indirectly support nearly 13,000 others.
The project emphasizes community engagement and sustainable practices, ensuring the long-term functionality of rehabilitated infrastructure. Atif Bajwa, President and CEO of Bank Alfalah, highlighted the bank’s commitment to community investment, while Akhtar Iqbal, CEO of Aga Khan Foundation, stressed the importance of rebuilding and enhancing community resilience.
