On the occasion of World Pharmacist Day, Patel Hospital organized a special ceremony to highlight the vital role of pharmacists in the healthcare sector. This year’s global theme, “Think Health, Think Pharmacist,” highlighted the crucial role of pharmacists in promoting health and ensuring the safe delivery of medicines.
The event was attended by distinguished guests and experts, including Dr. Mazhar Nizam, Medical Director of Patel Hospital; Dr. Qamar Unnissa, Head of Pharmacy, Patel Hospital; Dr. Haris Aziz, Head of Pharmacy, Liaquat National Hospital; Dr. Yasir Hashmi, Management Consultant, Patel Hospital; and Ms. Saman Jamal, Clinical Pharmacist.
On this occasion, Dr. Qamar Unnissa spoke on the subject of compounding, highlighting patient safety as the cornerstone of pharmacy practice. Clinical Pharmacist Saman Jamal highlighted the positive impact of compounding on patient outcomes in her presentation. In his closing remarks, Dr. Yasir Hashmi acknowledged the efforts of pharmacists and highlighted their increasing importance in public health.
During the program, Patel Hospital’s Compounding Services were also showcased. These services ensure the preparation of medicines tailored to the individual needs of patients, in line with international standards and quality measures. Such initiatives reflect the pharmacy department’s vision to provide the right medicine, in the right way, at the right time.
Various sessions of the event also shed light on the role of pharmacists in research, the development of new therapies, and innovations in healthcare. Speakers stressed that pharmacists form the backbone of a healthy society, and healthcare systems cannot be complete without their active role.
The event concluded with the distribution of shields and certificates to pharmacy professionals in recognition of their outstanding contributions, further encouraging and motivating the pharmacist community.
