Unilever Pakistan Hosts academia and industry roundtabl

Unilever Pakistan, in collaboration with NOWPDP and the Pakistan Business Council (PBC), hosted UpliftingU, a roundtable focused on mainstreaming education and employment for persons with disabilities (PWDs). The event aimed to foster inclusive education, skills development, and employment pathways for PWDs.

Held at Unilever Pakistan’s Head Office, the discussion addressed barriers to access in education and employment, highlighting the need for collaboration among industry, academia, and the development sector. NOWPDP announced a capability-building program with Unilever to enhance skills development and employability for PWDs.

Sanam Sheikh, HR Head at Unilever, pointed out the inequality faced by the 27 million PWDs in Pakistan, noting that many struggle to access higher education and jobs. Nazish Shekha from PBC emphasized the importance of structural readiness to ensure equal opportunities. Omair Ahmad, CEO of NOWPDP, called for early intervention and strong institutional policies to foster acceptance and inclusion.

UpliftingU reinforces the commitment to make education and employment accessible for PWDs, contributing to Pakistan’s economic resilience and inclusive opportunities.
