The 10th Pakistan Mega Leather Show, inaugurated in Lahore today

Federal Secretary of Commerce, Mr. Jawad Paul, inaugurated the three-day 10th Mega Leather Show 2025, organized by the Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA). The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place today at the Expo Centre in Lahore, with participation from PTA Chairman Hamid A. Zahur, Agha Saiddain (the convener of the leather show), and other officials and tanners.

The show will run from January 26 to January 28. Over 250 stalls showcased high-quality leather products, including gloves, shoes, bags, clothing, and other leather items. Local media reported the participation of both national and foreign companies, including leading firms from Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Japan.

The event attracted many individuals associated with the leather industry. Its purpose is to provide an ideal networking platform for manufacturers and decision-makers. Participants emphasized that the Mega Leather Show is vital for developing the country’s economy and industry.

Notably, Pakistan’s leather industry is the second-largest export-oriented sector in manufacturing and contributes the third most to the nation’s overall exports. During the first six months (July to December) of the 2024-2025 financial year, Pakistan’s leather industry experienced significant growth in export revenue.

Meanwhile, according to data compiled by the Federal Bureau of Statistics, total revenue increased by 7.96%, rising from $428.36 million to $462.49 million compared to the previous year. Increased exports of leather gloves and shoes primarily drove this growth.

Data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) indicates that finished leather exports generated $67.95 million from July to December 2024-2025, up from $67.45 million during the same period the previous year, reflecting a year-over-year growth of 0.73%. Additionally, leather manufacturing exports, including garments and other goods, rose by 6.88%, reaching $303.81 million in the first half of FY2024-2025, compared to $284.26 million in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.

Furthermore, during the first half of FY2024-2025, the value of Pakistan’s footwear exports increased from $76.64 million to $90.73 million, marking a notable rise over the same six-month period last year.
