Pakistani celebrities observe World Obesity Day amid efforts to address obesity issues

On World Obesity Day, Novo Nordisk and the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination (MoNHSRC) joined forces to address obesity as a public health priority in Pakistan. The event, held on March 4, 2026, included key figures such as Dr Malik Mukhtar Ahmad Bharath, H.E. Maja Mortensen, and other senior officials.

With obesity on the rise in Pakistan, affecting both adults and children, the need for coordinated action is critical. Obesity is often misunderstood and stigmatised, creating barriers to care. The minister emphasised that tackling obesity requires a comprehensive national approach focused on prevention and improved access to care.

The MoNHSRC secretary noted that obesity is a complex disease influenced by various factors and expressed commitment to expanding access to effective care. The Danish Ambassador highlighted the importance of knowledge-sharing partnerships for sustainable health outcomes. Hasnain Ahmad from Novo Nordisk reaffirmed the company’s dedication to supporting Pakistan in addressing obesity through understanding and person-centred care.
