The Chairman of the Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA), Mr Muhammad Mehr Ali and the Chairman of the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) Mr Li Yuzhong, in a media statement, said they have achieved another milestone as signed MOU on 3rd September’2024 during participation of PTA member exporters under aegis of National Pavilion of Pakistan in All China Leather Exhibition, 3-5th September 2024 at Shanghai China in most auspicious MOU signing ceremony held on 3rd September 2024 in China.
This MOU is more vital and vibrant after the execution of the FTA between Pakistan and China and effective at the ground with a major relaxation of custom duty in China for the export of Finished Leather from Pakistan to China, which is now at zero rated than earlier was eligible around 8-9% customs duty for the export of finished leather of Cow, buffalo, sheep and goat skins to China.
We also must add with appreciation the efforts of Mr. Shehzad Ahmad Khan, Consul General of Pakistan in Shanghai, China, for his support and cooperation. We don’t forget as necessary the assistance and cooperation extended as yet by TDAP Government of Pakistan for allocation of this event to PTA for organising the National Pavilion of Pakistan with an increased rate of subsidy at 70% instead of the earlier 40%, which is a lot of encouragement with financial facilitation.
In conclusion, the Chairman, PTA, his entire team, and Secretariat are enthusiastically committed to achieving further milestones shortly. This commitment is of utmost importance for the industry and our country, as it will yield significant foreign exchange for the national exchequer.
