Pakistan Power Generation up by 10.1% during 9MFY22

· Power generation went up by 16.2% YoY to 10,418 GWh (14,003 MW) during Mar’22, compared to 8,965 GWh (12,049 MW) during Mar’21.The rise in generation was owed to higher generation from FO, RLNG and Nuclear.

· Major contributors during Mar’22 were Coal (share: 25%), RLNG (share: 19%), Hydel (share: 16%), Nuclear (share: 15%), FO (share: 11%), Gas (share: 10%), Wind (share: 3%), Bagasse (share: 1%) and Solar (share: 1%).

· FO based power generation increased by 4.7x YoY. Nuclear, Wind and RLNG based generation also increased by 66%, 58% and 4% YoY, respectively

· During Mar’22, fuel cost for power generation increased by 3% MoM and 66% YoY to an average of PKR 9.22/KWh compared to an average cost of PKR 8.94/KWh and PKR 5.55/KWh during Feb’22 and Mar’21, respectively.
