Pakistan’s oil marketing companies (OMCs) recorded petroleum sales of 1.48 million tons in October 2026, down 1% year-on-year despite a 10% month-on-month recovery, according to a report by Arif Habib Limited.
The decline was attributed to higher fuel prices, with petrol and diesel prices rising by over Rs120 per litre compared to the same month last year. Petrol (MS) sales fell 2% YoY, while high-speed diesel (HSD) sales declined 7%. Furnace oil (FO) sales, however, surged 243% owing to increased demand for FO-based power generation amid RLNG supply disruptions.
Monthly HSD demand jumped 26% to 0.66 million tons, supported by seasonal requirements for the Rabi crop season.
During the first four months of FY27, total petroleum sales increased 4% to 5.59 million tons. Petrol and diesel volumes reached 2.69 million tons and 2.23 million tons, respectively, while furnace oil sales rose to 0.36 million tons.
Company-wise, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) posted an 8% increase in October sales to 0.69 million tons, supported by stronger petrol and diesel offtake. Attock Petroleum’s sales eased 1%, while Wafi Energy (Shell) rose 11%. Hascol’s volumes declined 6%.
PSO strengthened its market share to 46.5% in 4MFY27 from 42.1% a year earlier, while Attock Petroleum and Wafi Energy also posted modest gains. Gas & Oil Pakistan (GO) witnessed a notable decline in market share to 4.3% from 12.9%.
Arif Habib Limited noted that petroleum levy collections are estimated at around Rs499 billion during 4MFY27 against the government’s FY27 target of Rs1.68 trillion.
