The leadership of Pakistan’s business community has welcomed the crucial points raised by the Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, in his press conference the other day, Mian Zahid Hussain, President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum & All Karachi Industrial Alliance, Chairman National Business Group Pakistan, Chairman Policy Advisory Board FPCCI, and Former Provincial Minister Information Technology, emphasized that stability on all fronts—security, political, and institutional—is the indispensable foundation for sustainable economic growth.
Mr. Hussain emphasized that the business community values the commitment to political neutrality and professionalism. Clarifying this principle reduces speculative risk in a politically sensitive economy, fostering market predictability and supporting democratic stability.
Mian Zahid Hussain acknowledged that combating terrorism is not just a security challenge but an economic necessity. Instability affects market operations, raises business costs, and diverts resources from development. He supported the DG ISPR, emphasizing the need for a unified national response and robust government action to implement the National Action Plan and enhance justice systems.
Mr. Hussain urged all stakeholders to prioritize national cohesion and economic recovery over partisan interests. He emphasized the need for political leadership to ensure consistent policies and structural reforms, alongside a commitment from security forces to protection.
Mr. Hussain expressed that the business community fully supports the Pakistan Army’s commitment to security and believes that the DG ISPR’s identification of weaknesses in the judicial system, political collusion, terror financing, and the collusion of India and Afghanistan, as well as large-scale cultivation of poppy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is timely. The entire nation needs to unite and tackle these evils and weaknesses, making it possible to attract foreign investment and provide the public with peace and prosperity.
