Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) President Talat Mahmood has rejected the FPCCI Secretary General’s decision to disallow KCCI’s nominations for the FPCCI elections 2027-28, calling the move unfair and legally unjustified.

Talat Mahmood said KCCI had submitted all required nomination documents and objected to the rejection on the basis of membership certificate books. He also criticized the use of the term “bogus” for KCCI-issued certificates, calling it damaging to the Chamber’s credibility.

He noted that KCCI has printed membership certificates through the Pakistan Security Printing Corporation since 2014 and that several FPCCI elections have been held during this period without objection.

Calling for regulatory intervention, Talat Mahmood urged the Directorate General of Trade Organizations (DGTO) to conduct an impartial review of the decision and examine whether it applied the rules consistently to all trade bodies.

“KCCI will not accept the blanket rejection of its nominations without clear and legally sustainable justification,” he said, adding that the Chamber would pursue all available legal and regulatory remedies if necessary.
