On Independence Day, Chairman Businessmen Group Zubair Motiwala and President Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) Muhammad Rehan Hanif expressed confidence in Pakistan’s economic potential. They emphasized that unity, economic discipline, structural reforms, and public-private partnerships are crucial for a prosperous future.
The KCCI leaders highlighted that Independence Day is a time to recommit to a strong, self-reliant Pakistan. They noted that the country has always had potential, needing only collective resolve and an enabling business environment to achieve sustainable growth.
They welcomed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement with Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, seeing it as a sign of Pakistan’s strategic relevance. The leadership pointed out positive indicators, including a 3.7% GDP growth for FY2025-26 and a rise in the Henley Passport Index.
They acknowledged the contribution of overseas Pakistanis, with remittances rising from $34.7 billion in 2024 to $40.2 billion in 2025. The KCCI leaders also appreciated improvements in macroeconomic stability and credit ratings, which could enhance access to international markets.
However, they stressed that these gains should spur deeper structural reforms focused on export-led growth, industrialization, and productivity enhancement. The leaders urged the government to involve the private sector in economic policy-making to foster a strong partnership for national development.
They paid tribute to those who have sacrificed for the country and called for unity in achieving economic progress.
