Gulftainer to acquire 1,000 trucks, develop logistics hub in Al Dhaid

Gulftainer has signed a strategic agreement with United Al Saqer Heavy Equipment for the acquisition of 1,000 trucks as part of a major expansion of its logistics and distribution operations across the UAE and the wider GCC region. Under the agreement, 450 trucks will be delivered by the end of November 2026, while the remaining units are scheduled to join the fleet during the first quarter of 2027. The expansion is expected to significantly enhance Gulftainer’s cargo distribution capacity, particularly along the Khorfakkan-UAE logistics corridor.

Alongside the fleet acquisition, the partners announced two major investments within KAFEZ (Khorfakkan Al Dhaid Free Economic Zone). United Al Saqer Heavy Equipment will develop and operate what is being described as the largest truck workshop on the UAE East Coast. The facility will provide maintenance, repair and fleet support services for both Gulftainer and third-party operators, while also offering dedicated rest and service facilities for truck drivers.

The two companies have also agreed to establish a 100,000 square metre automotive logistics park in Al Dhaid to support vehicle storage, handling and distribution activities. The facility will serve automobiles arriving through UAE East Coast ports, including Khorfakkan Port, enabling direct movement into the free zone for processing and regional distribution.

Gulftainer Group CEO Farid Belbouab said the initiative would strengthen the company’s logistics backbone while creating a fully integrated transport ecosystem supporting trade and trucking activity across the East Coast and GCC markets.

United Al Saqer Heavy Equipment CEO Nader Al Quraan said the partnership combines the company’s four decades of expertise in the UAE automotive and heavy equipment sectors with Gulftainer’s trade infrastructure network to create a regional benchmark for scale, technology and service excellence.

The new logistics park will also feature heavy-vehicle service bays and a central spare parts warehouse designed to improve fleet availability and operational efficiency for customers across the region.
