Governor assures full support of federal government to industrialists

Governor Sindh Imram Ismael has assured the business community that federal government would not leave them alone and will provide every possible assistance to maintain the pace of industrial production and exports. He was addressing a gathering of industrialist at Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) here on Monday. President KATI Sheikh Umer Rehan, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Chairman & CEO KITE Zubair Chhaya, Khalid Tawab, Senior Vice President Muhammad Ikram Rajput, Vice President Syed Wajid Hussain , Former President Zahid Saeed , Danish Khan and others addressed the occasion.

Governor Ismael said that government tried it best to explore more natural gas reservoir but no any big breakthrough not expected , we have find alternative sources of energy for industry, he noted. He said that government policy to curb Covid-19 had been appreciated all over the world and Pakistan has ranked no one in the world as a role model to fight back this pandemic.

President KATI Sheikh Umer Rehan said that industry was facing biggest problem of energy shortage and interruption in gas and electricity supply. He also mentioned that expended jurisdiction of FBR regarding surveillance and vetting records would drastically effect business growth in country. “PM Khan should take immediate notice of this concern” he urged.

Zubair Chhaya mentioned that for development companies of industrial area, it was promised by federal government to provide funds for the companies and province was abide to match the federal grant. But since the inception of the companies the promise has never been fulfilled by federal government. He urged the governor to raise this issue before Prime Minister and his economic team. Khalid Tawab urged to resolve the issue of Gas Infrastructure Development Cess (GIDC) as the huge number of industries could not pay the accumulated dues. He also suggested the governor to recommend President KATI Sheikh Umer Rehan for Sitara-i-Imtiaz in the appreciation of his services to business community.

Governor Imran Ismael promised to arrange a meeting between PM Khan, Advisor on Finance, Chairman FBR and business representative to resolve the concerns of business community regarding the FBR. He also vowed to call Special Assistant to PM Zulfi Bukhari and DG EOBI to resolve problems regarding concern.

PTI’s MNA from Karachi Akram Cheema, Muhammad Faeem, MPA Raja Azhar, Former Presidents of KATI Zahid Saed, Danish Khan, SM Yahya, Sheikh Fazle Jalil, Gulzar Firoz, Ehtesham Uddin, Saleem-uz-Zaman, DG ANF Manzoor Janjua and others were also present at occasion. Prior to this governor also planted a tree to inaugurate plantation drive of KATI.
