Federal Secretary, Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Government of Pakistan, Mr. Nadeem Mehbub, visited KPT. Upon arriving at KPT Head Office, he was received by the General Manager (Operations), Rear Admiral Ateeq Ur Rehman Abid HI(M).
In a detailed briefing, the Federal Secretary was apprised of Karachi Port’s operations, development projects, administrative and operational reforms, Mechanization/digitalization, Smart & Green Port initiatives, anti-encroachment drive, connectivity projects, and future investment opportunities. The briefing also highlighted the KPT’s record performance in FY 2025-26, including 2.749 million TEUs of containers, 55.483 million tons of cargo and 2,115 vessels.
Major future initiatives, including the 140-acre Maritime Business District, Manors Shipyard, South Wharf development, land utilization, port connectivity projects and capacity-building plans, were also discussed.
Earlier, on 26th August 2026, the Federal Secretary Maritime Affairs visited the South Asia Pakistan Terminals Limited (SAPTL) Terminal at South Wharf to witness cargo-handling operations. He also took a harbour cruise to inspect KPT assets/infrastructure, including crafts, wharves and oil piers.
The Federal Secretary appreciated KPT’s efforts towards enhanced performance, port efficiency, resilience, modernization, and sustainable maritime development.
