CSSPR at the University of Lahore hosted a webinar titled “Deterrence to Diplomacy

The Center for Security, Strategy and Policy Research (CSSPR) at the University of Lahore hosted a webinar titled “Deterrence to Diplomacy: Pakistan’s Strategic Repositioning” to mark the one-year anniversary of the May 2025 conflict known as Marka-e-Haq.
Moderated by Dr. Rabia Akhtar, the event featured experts like Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry and Dr. Maria Sultan, who discussed the conflict’s implications for military preparedness, diplomacy, and regional stability.
Panelists characterized May 2025 as a critical moment for Pakistan’s strategic posture, marking a restoration of deterrence equilibrium against India. They emphasized the importance of evolving military capabilities, including AI and cyber technologies, and highlighted Pakistan’s increased regional relevance post-crisis. However, they warned about India’s potential military recalibration and stressed that Pakistan’s strategic gains require ongoing economic resilience, institutional strength, and innovation.
The webinar concluded with a call for responsible statecraft in a changing security landscape.
