Capt. Javed Iqbal has been elected unopposed as Chairman of the Pakistan Ship’s Agents Association (PSAA) for the term 2026–2028 at the Association’s Annual General Meeting held on September 30, 2026, at Beach Luxury Hotel. Formed in 1976, PSAA is the oldest and largest trade body representing shipping lines and agents in Pakistan, with 59 members handling containerized, liquid, and dry bulk cargo at the country’s seaports. The Association enjoys strong representation at official levels including the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Karachi Port Trust, Port Qasim Authority, Gwadar Port Authority, Customs, and FPCCI.
The newly elected Executive Committee includes Mr. Asim Saeed Khan as Senior Vice Chairman, Mr. Jawed Iqbal as Vice Chairman, and members Mr. Abdul Rauf, Mr. Taimur Badat, Mr. Syed Adnan Ahmad Mahmoodi, Mr. Zain Makkani, Mr. Fahad Shiraz, Mr. S.M. Mustafa Ahmed, and Mr. Amin Sardar Ali.
Capt. Javed Iqbal, who brings over 33 years of shore-based and sailing experience in the shipping and maritime industry, expressed his commitment to closer collaboration between the maritime sector, business community, and government. He emphasized the need to boost Pakistan’s exports and establish the country as a global transshipment hub.
In his remarks, the incoming Chairman appreciated the outgoing Chairman Mr. Mohammed A. Rajpar and his team for their dedicated service to the ports and shipping sector, which he described as vital for national development and economic progress.
The new leadership of PSAA signals continuity and renewed focus on strengthening Pakistan’s maritime industry and enhancing its role in global trade.
