Provincial President of the Awaam Pakistan Party Balochistan, Syed Aman Shah, strongly reacted to proposals for a smart lockdown and transportation restrictions, saying the country is already facing inflation, unemployment, and serious economic difficulties. In such circumstances, proposals to restrict business and economic activities would further aggravate the hardships faced by the people.
He said that any proposal for a smart lockdown or restrictions on transportation would be tantamount to paralyzing the country, and that the party rejects such measures. He said that the proposal to restrict business activities and normal life for three days a week would primarily affect ordinary citizens, daily-wage earners, and workers who earn their livelihoods through daily labor.
If a worker cannot work even one day, his household budget is affected. Restricting work opportunities for three days a week could multiply the difficulties faced by the poor and middle classes, Syed Aman Shah said.
The Provincial President, Syed Aman Shah, said the government should avoid policies that could slow employment, business, industry, trade, and transportation. He said that strengthening the country’s economy requires facilitating business activities, creating investment opportunities, and providing better employment opportunities to the common people.
Syed Aman Shah said that increases in the prices of electricity, petrol, gas, and essential commodities had already severely affected people’s purchasing power. If the government genuinely wants to provide relief to the public, it should focus on reducing unnecessary expenditures, controlling inflation, and increasing employment opportunities rather than restricting people’s mobility and business activities.
The Provincial President of the Awaam Pakistan Party, Syed Aman Shah, said that decisions aimed at addressing any emergency should be made after considering public interest, ground realities, and economic consequences. He stressed that measures that could affect the livelihoods of workers, transporters, shopkeepers, and small businesses require consultation with all relevant stakeholders.
