Chief Guest Younus Dagha, a key figure in the industry, emphasized the importance of the caretaker government’s efforts to improve the performance of government departments. He advocated for the continuation of the e-services system and the need for Karachi to have a voice in policymaking. His advice to address industry issues with high government officials, supported by Research & Statistics, highlighted his strategic approach to industry challenges.

Expressing views on freight charges, Younus Dagha stated that a comprehensive presentation will be given to the government as soon as the country pays 3-4 billion dollars per annum against freight charges. Political Uncertainty and High Energy costs are the two big challenges now. He concluded that if we control these two issues, the country will be in a position of take-off.

SAI President Muhammad Kamran Arbi, in his welcome address, highlighted the significant achievements of Younus Dagha during his tenure as caretaker Minister. He particularly commended his efforts in resolving industry-related issues through coordination meetings with stakeholders, and his initiatives in e-services and digitalization of land records. These achievements underscore his potential to continue making a positive impact in the industry.

Patron-in-Chief Zubair Motiwala lauded the devoted work done by Younus Dagha as Secretary of Commerce, Minister of Industries and other positions. He suggested that the government should benefit from the experience, insight and capabilities of Younus Dagha and appoint him to a top government office, at least in an Advisory capacity. “Younus Dagha is an asset for us, and he must be given a chance to serve the country”, Motiwala remarked.

Chief Coordinator Saleem Parekh said that we are setting an example for appreciating those who did a good job while on the job. He mentioned that the work has slowed down on e-service, but it will continue anyway. He requested Younus Dagha to help paint a positive picture of the Karachi industry before the government and also guide on how to improve SITE Limited’s working performance.

Former President Jawed Bilwani seconded the views of the Patron-in-Chief and said that the Think Tank working at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry under his supervision would benefit the country, and the government should take advantage of it.
