Director General, Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Govt. of Sindh visits KATI

Mr. Muhammad Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqi, Director General, Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Govt. of Sindh and his team visited Pakistan biggest industrial estate – Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) today to meet the top businessmen and discuss mutual co-operation, ways and means, for enlarging tax collection and removal of hindrance and problems faced by the industrialists in paying taxes.

On arrival, he was graciously received by President KATI, Mr. Sheikh Umer Rehan, Senior Vice President, Mr. Mohammad Ikram Rajput and Vice President Mr. Syed Wajid Hussain and others.

During the meeting, Mr. Muhammad Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqi, Director General, Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Govt. of Sindh has assured businessmen for removing the unnecessary hurdles relating to professional tax, property tax, motor vehicle tax and motor vehicle registration.

He accepted the proposal of KATI for nominating focal person on both sides for resolving the taxes issues.

He further said that development of infrastructure in Korangi Industrial Area is not under the purview of his dept., but he will try to convey the same to concerned ministry with recommendation.

He disclosed that new number plates for car registration are being issued on priority basis but accepted backlog of two years and assured it would also be cleared soon.

He also proposed setting of booth with the help of local banks at KATI for online tax collection. He expressed hope, that tax collection system is being modernized and Mobile APP would be launched soon to facilitate tax payers.

Earlier, President KATI, Mr. Sheikh Umer Rehan, Senior Vice President, Mr. Mohammad Ikram Rajput and former Chairman of KATI, Muhammad Zubair Chhaya & CEO of Korangi Industrial Trading Estate Development have brought number of issues being faced by the businessmen on account of paying professional tax, property tax motor vehicle registration and proposed various measures that can be mutually helpful for Sindh Govt. and businessmen.

They earnestly proposed that 50% of Cess revenue being collectd by govt. of Sindh on import of goods in province, may be spent on the development of infrastructure particularly, gas pipelines, electric poles, separate water and drainage system for the Korangi Industrial Area.

Meeting was ended with a positive note that liaison between Govt. of Sindh and KATI would be continued for the mutual co-operation.
