The leather sector deprives the supply of gas.

Chairman, Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) Mr Amanullah Aftab has stated that the leather industry is a vital export-oriented sector, especially in Chamra Mandi (Sector 7-A, Korangi Industrial Area, Karachi). It is contributing significantly to the leather sector exports with an approximate 40% share of total exports of the leather sector of Pakistan is being deprived of the vital basic necessity of gas these days.

As a result of severe scarcity of gas, which is the most crucial element in this continuous process Industry of the country the export orders are becoming jeopardizing for the cancellation for non-execution within the mutually agreed time frame against export orders placed by the foreign buyers/customers, which would obviously not bring the negative impact for infringement to the agreement with the foreign buyers/customers but also country will lose the precious foreign exchange for the national exchequer.

Chairman has articulated the Government of Pakistan & Ministry of Gas & Petroleum powerfully, in particular, has already assured to all Export Oriented Sectors of the country, including Leather Sector of Pakistan, for the smooth & regular supply of gas without interruption for their facilitation in the execution of export orders

Chairman, PTA reiterated that the leather sector is a continuous processing export-oriented industry, and the continuity of supply of Gas IS UTMOST IMPORTANT basic necessity of the Industry, which may please be ensured as ALREADY ASSURED BY THE GOVERNMENT TO ALL EXPORT ORIENTED SECTORS OF THE COUNTRY.

He appealed to the Federal Minister for Petroleum and the helm of SSGC to ensure supply the gas 24/7 to this vital mother industry located at korangi industrial area (SECTOR 7-A, CHAMRA MANDI), so that the significant Industry would be able to continue the process of raw hides & skins to finished leather along with allied commodities with much more value addition for the execution of export orders in time against the commitments to secure the precious foreign exchange for the country.
