The cottage industry is the backbone of an economy, President KATI

The furniture product can be improved using modern technology, innovation, low cost, and quality. Organizing furniture exhibitions at national and international levels is inevitable, by organizing exhibitions on behalf of the Furniture Association, Pakistani products can be marketed. There is a great opportunity to do this, which will further expand and promote this industry in Pakistan. These views were expressed by Korangi Association of Trade and Industry President Faraz-ur-Rehman while talking to the delegation led by All Pakistan Furniture Exporters Association Chairman Rana Waheed. Senior Vice President Night Awan, Vice President Muslim Mohammadi, Senior Vice President of Sindh Trade Union Mirza Sadiq Baig, President of Mehran Town Welfare Association Muhammad Qasim, Khurram Salman and other members of Furniture Exporters Association were also present at the event.

President KATI said that industrialists associated with furniture in Mehran Town could get the services of various sectors by getting a membership of KATI. At the same time, playing a role in solving the electricity and infrastructure problems faced by the industry in Mehran Town. President KATI said that the small and medium cottage industry is the backbone of any country’s economy. Rehman said that a uniform system of equal tax and duty should be implemented. Faraz-ur-Rehman said that by cooperating and helping each other, the country’s economy and furniture industry can be promoted and stabilised. He said that Pakistani furniture is the best in the world. However, we need to market our products. Innovative brands should be introduced to attract buyers and provide them with world-class quality.

President KATI said that organising such exhibitions is welcome for the citizens of Karachi, where all the stakeholders associated with the furniture industry participate under one roof. This exhibition allowed the citizens of Karachi to see the variety of top furniture brands in Pakistan.

Rana Waheed, chairman of the All Pakistan Furniture Exporters Association, said that the export of wooden furniture during COVID was 1.4 million dollars and imports 13 million dollars which increased to 4.8 million dollars in exports and 6 million dollars in imports in 2022. Rana Waheed added that if the patronage of a big association like KATI and the government’s support becomes available, the export of furniture can exceed one billion dollars. He said that despite the country’s worsening economic conditions and political instability, the furniture industry excelled. He said that a large number of foreign diplomats participated in the furniture expo and appreciated the furniture produced in the country. In the ceremony, Fatiha was also recited for KATI’s Patron-in-Chief Late SM Muneer Bhaijan.
