In a bid to align the Thari youth along the modern-day career lines, the Thar Foundation and Saylani Welfare International Trust have signed a partnership contract to train Thari Youth in development of apps based on the Google’s Android OS. The agreement has been signed to include, the Thari youth into the software development courses offered by the Trust, a registered charity and an independent non-governmental organization, through its different offices. The Thar Foundation, a non-profit organization working for the welfare of the Tharparkar region, would help the Trust in access to the potential candidates from the region and facilitate in administratively.
In this connection, both the organizations on Wednesday formally signed a memorandum of understanding to start the program. The MoU was signed by Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company’s Chairman, Board of Directors (BoD), Mr. Khursheed Jamali and Saylani Welfare International Trust’s Director, Mr. Yousuf Lakhani in presence of senior officials from both sides.
The contract also entails that both the parties will also search out possibilities together in the areas including installation of RO water filtration plants; development of a vocational training institute offering motor cycle technician courses and provides motorcycle repairs and maintenance services.
Speaking on the occasion, TF chief Mr. Shamsuddin Shaikh said that the training program will increase the skill set of the Thari youth in the app development industry which will also soar upwards with the setting up of different coal mining and power plant projects at Tharparkar.
“Thari youth have immense potential and we have witnessed as first-hand experience that they perform at par in every trade required in the industrial sector,” he said. “We are sure that they will develop wonderful Android apps as well.”
TF will ensure its cooperation throughout the training, from invitation of applications to execution and assessment of trainees, culminating in the training of the successful candidates, Shaikh explained.
Speaking at the occasion, Saylani Trust’s Director, Yousuf Lakhani said, they have trained hundreds of youth from poor families who are now earning for their families in an honourable way. “It will also equip them with the skills which they can use and earn as freelancers,” he added.
