Taxpayers has right to get facilities: FBR

Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) Chief Commissioner IR RTO III Nazeer Ahmed Shoro said that tax payers have all rights to get facilities, amnesty schemes shattered confidence of tax payers and weren’t become helpful to expend tax net in the country. He express these view while talking to a gathering of industrialist on the occasion of his visit to Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI). He said that FBR has started to issue refunds and 49 billion have been released currently.

President of KATI Tariq Malik, Senior Vice President Salman Aslam, Vice President Junaid Naqi, and Head of KATI’s standing committee of FBR & Taxation Rashid Ahmed Siddiqui, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Zubair Chhaya, Masood Naqi and others also addressed the occasion.

President KATI Tariq Malik said that despite paying the largest chunk of takes and providing employment the business community never get due honor form government institutions. He said that the first thing we expect from tax establishment of our country is no other than respect and due diligence. Rashid Ahmed Siddqui said that from several years 400 billion of tax refunds were due, government continuously made false commitments and traders and industry are suffering their worse times. He said that investors left the country due to two reasons, law & order was one of them which have resolved at large extend, the other one is fear of taxation system which continuously harass business community. He said that harassment and raids should be stop against business community. Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan said that due refunds was “Amanat” of business community, which was not kept with integrity. Zubair Chhaya, Masood Naqi and other also gave suggestion to improve tax collection.

While answering to questions Chief Commissioner RTO III Nazeer Ahmed said that we don’t believe in any harassment tactics. He said that raids were only made after deep research and accurate clues. He was also of the view that for tax net expansion there are certain measures needed, which can only become the part of policy making if political leadership of the country would show the will to do. He said that we are ready to provide all needed assistance to make smooth taxation processes. Other commissioners of different zones of RTO III Sajjad Nazeer Malik, Ajaz Ahmed Khan, Afaq Ahmed Qureshi, Tariq Mustafa Khan, Shaher Bano Walajahi and other FBR officials were also present at the occasion.
