Tarique Rahman, the Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has officially taken the oath of office as Prime Minister, following his party’s victory in the 13th National Parliament election of 2026.
The oath was administered by President Mohammed Shahabuddin during a ceremony held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament on Tuesday afternoon.
The event was attended by senior political leaders, newly elected Members of Parliament, government officials, and other guests. Tarique Rahman’s swearing-in comes after he was unanimously elected as the Leader of the House by the BNP’s parliamentary party earlier that day. (media reports)
