Tariq Haleem becomes Chairman of PSAA

Tariq Haleem has been elected unopposed as Chairman of Pakistan Ship’s Agents Association (PSAA) for the term 2018-2019 in the annual elections of the association. Tariq Haleem is also Vice President Pakistan Stevedores Conference (G) Limited (PSCL) and Vice President Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI). Similarly, Capt. Javed Iqbal and Mr. Jawed Iqbal were elected Senior Vice Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively.

PSAA’s AGM was held on 27th September, 2018 at Beach Luxury Hotel, Karachi.

Due to his experience in the shipping / maritime industry and close working in the FPCCI he can see both sides of the coin i.e. from the Shipping and Port Sector point of view and also from the point of view of the trading community i.e. both exporters & importers.

Tariq Haleem has about 40 years’ hands on experience in the shipping field.

In his acceptance speech Tariq Haleem has expressed his intention of better and closer working between the Maritime sector, Business Community and the Government especially with a view to increase exports from Pakistan.

The incoming Chairman Mr. Tariq Haleem appreciated the outgoing Chairman Mr. Mohammed A. Rajpar and his team for their hard work to serve the interests of Ports and Shipping sector which is vital for the development and economic progress of every country.

PSAA profile

Pakistan Ship’s Agents Association (PSAA) was formed in 1976 and is the largest and oldest Trade Association representing Shipping Lines/Agents whose 60 members handle all types of cargo i.e. containerized cargo, liquid cargo and dry bulk cargo at Pakistani seaports.

PSAA’s main objective is to resolve problems faced by its members and to make a positive contribution to the long term progress of the Ports and Shipping industry in Pakistan. PSAA enjoys a high reputation at all official levels including Ministry of Maritime Affairs (MOMA), Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Port Qasim Authority (PQA), Gwadar Port Authority (GPA), Customs, FPCCI, etc. Its members are represented on several high profile committees formed by the Federal Government from time to time at MOMA, KPT, PQA, GPA, KDLB, Planning Commission, etc.
