On the sidelines of the recently concluded Islamic Summit in Karachi, prominent diplomatic representatives and international delegates held high‑level consultative meetings with Tariq Haleem, a leading figure in Pakistan’s maritime and shipping sector, former Vice President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), and President of the Pakistan Stevedores Conference.
Consuls General from several friendly nations participated in the discussions, which focused on reviewing the evolving dynamics of global shipping and exploring joint strategies to address emerging maritime challenges.
Participants exchanged views on disruptions in international supply chains, regulatory changes, and operational difficulties confronting merchant fleets worldwide. Special emphasis was placed on the Middle East, particularly the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a vital artery for global energy transport and cargo flows.
Diplomatic representatives and shipping experts underscored the importance of maintaining uninterrupted traffic along key maritime routes, mitigating geopolitical risks, and developing collaborative mechanisms to safeguard the continuity of global trade.
During the meetings, Tariq Haleem invited the visiting Consuls General to tour Bulk Shipping’s corporate head office on M.T. Khan Road, Karachi. The diplomats warmly accepted and confirmed plans to pay an official visit to the company’s headquarters in the near future.
