SSGC’s anti-gas theft control teams have made significant strides in combating gas theft, removing 550 illegal domestic connections in the Company’s franchise areas of Sindh and Balochistan. In Karachi, 265 illegal connections were removed in raids conducted in the residential areas of Star Homes in Garden, Gulistan-e-Johar and Roti Corporation Society located in Gulshan-e-Maymar. 40 illicit connections were removed in Star Homes, where residents had extended illegal gas connections. The customer Relations Department team removed these illicit connections. The area has been kept under observation to ward off future incidents of gas theft. The residents of Roti Corporation Society had extended illegal connections by using a service valve and riser to serve 200 residents. All illegal connections were dismantled by the CRD team, and subsequent claims are being raised.

In Balochistan, SSGC’s theft control teams continued to tighten the noose on gas theft miscreants by removing 270 illegal connections from residential areas of Quetta, Pishin, Kalat, and Dera Allayar. More than five fake meters were removed during the operations. Subsequent theft claims are being raised.

SSGC teams conducted more raids on overhead and underground connections in the Nawabshah and Larkana regions, where 15 connections were dismantled. Theft clamps and rubber pipes used in the theft were removed, and subsequent claims are being raised.

Gas theft is a significant contributor to Unaccounted-for-Gas (UFG) or line losses. SSGC is steadfast in its mission to control this menace through regular raids and aggressive prosecution.
