SSGC disconnects 3,000 illegal connection in Shah Latif Town

The Sui Southern Gas Company’s Security Services and Counter Gas Theft Operations Department has increased its efforts to curb the rising incidences of gas theft. Recently, in an attempt to dismantle the mafia operating in Shah Latif Town, Malir, Karachi, the team has been conducting a major operation for the past two weeks.

In a raid carried out near Abdullah Goth, Shah Latif Town, Malir, Karachi, the team found an illegal connection directly from SSGC’s 16” main distribution line via which gas was being supplied to 2,600 households. The culprits were taking Rs. 20,000 in advance for providing the illegal connection and Rs. 1,500 as a monthly payment. All illegal connections were dismantled on the spot, and even after having been attacked by a mob, SSGC’s teams continued to disconnect all illicit connections.

FIRs have been lodged against the culprits, including Allah Wadhaya Abbasi, son of Allah Wasaya, Wajid Baloch, Khan Muhammad Buledi, Khair Muhammad Kaleri, Anwer Siyal & Shah Muhammad, for providing illegal direct connections to residents. An appropriate claim will be raised accordingly.

Following this major raid, another action was taken in Yar Mohammad Goth, Malir, Karachi, where an illegal direct underground connection was found on SSGC’s 20” main distribution line. The line was punctured to supply gas to 400 houses in Yar Mohammad Goth, where the culprits were charging Rs. 12,000 as an advance and Rs. 2,000 as a monthly payment. Culprits were also using two heavy gas generators directly from service line for power generation purposes. Both the generators were also taken into custody. All clamps and illegal pipes used for stealing gas were removed on the spot. FIR has been lodged against the culprits, Ali Chandio & Badshah Khan, for providing illegal direct connections to the residents.

Gas theft is a serious crime against the community, and SSGC has a zero-tolerance policy against all those involved.
