SMEDA leads historic event to connect SMEs across 57 OIC Member States

The three-day international workshop focused on developing the OIC SME Networking Platform concluded with a commitment from participating countries to create a sustainable framework for connecting businesses across the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states. Organized by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) and supported by the Ministry of Industries and Production, the workshop brought together institutions from Turkiye, Egypt, Senegal, and Malaysia.

Keynote speaker Rana Ahmed Ateeq Anwar emphasized the importance of turning regional economic cooperation into actual business opportunities for SMEs, supporting the initiative in line with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision. Ahsan Ali Mangi, Federal Secretary, underscored the workshop’s role in developing a workable mechanism for business collaboration.

CEO SMEDA Nadia Jahangir Seth highlighted the potential of the networking platform to foster international business relations and enhance market access for OIC enterprises. The platform aims to serve as a common gateway for SMEs to connect with buyers, suppliers, and investors, addressing barriers to internationalization.

The workshop aimed to create a draft framework for governance and sustainability, with a follow-up virtual consultation planned for November 2026. This initiative seeks to strengthen institutional cooperation and facilitate connections for stronger intra-OIC trade and economic growth.
