SITE Industrialists urge end to erratic fuel pricing

Abdul Rehman Fudda, President of the SITE Association of Industry Karachi, warned that Pakistan’s industrial sector is in crisis due to the government’s daily or frequent revisions of petroleum prices. This policy has driven up transportation costs, disrupted factory supplies, and threatened competitiveness in international markets.

Fudda stated that unpredictable fuel prices have created uncertainty for businesses, pushing the industrial supply chain toward paralysis. He urged the government to withdraw the daily pricing policy, reduce taxes on petroleum products, and establish a pricing review period of at least 15 days.

He criticized the government for failing to implement an agreement with transporters to extend the revision period and called for broad-based relief measures rather than benefits for specific sectors. Fudda emphasized that stable fuel prices are essential for production planning and the survival of export-oriented industries, appealing for immediate action to prevent further damage to industrial production and exports.
