Industrialists from the SITE Association have expressed deep concern about extortion, factory robberies, and an unsupportive business climate, calling on the government for better protection. At a recent meeting with Sindh’s Inspector General of Police, Javed Alam Odho, they highlighted the worsening law-and-order situation and requested measures to ensure a peaceful operating environment.
SAI President Abdul Rehman Fudda condemned a recent shooting linked to extortion in North Karachi, emphasising the need for business safety and addressing encroachments in the SITE area, which the IG vowed to tackle. He also committed to combating extortionists.
Patron-in-Chief Zubair Motiwala criticised police stations for deterring FIRs and suggested that crime records be kept anonymously. He noted traffic delays in the area and raised concerns about aerial firing at weddings affecting solar panels.
Patron Saleem Parekh urged better coordination among police forces and proposed donating a drone camera for crime monitoring. Former President Jawed Bilwani discussed permanently removing encroachments and improving traffic management with dedicated truck parking.
Law & Order Committee Chairman Abdul Hadi reported a shortage of 113 police officers in key sites and called for more police vehicles to respond effectively. DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah mentioned that Station Officers now have tablets for reporting violations, and that lane discipline enforcement will begin soon.
