President SITE Association of Industry Muhammad Kamran Arbi, Chief Coordinator Saleem Parekh, Senior Vice President Hanif Tawakkal, and Vice President Farhan Ashrafi, along with the entire Executive Committee, have demanded the FBR extend the last date for filing Income Tax returns and sales tax returns by at least 15 days to facilitate genuine taxpayers.

They mentioned that FBR’s IRIS system has been down for the last three days, so registered taxpayers cannot file their income and sales tax returns on time, i.e., on 30 September 2024. The system cannot cope with the pressure and collapses, leading to large-scale inconvenience to taxpayers nationwide.

As a result, the income tax return filing and sales tax return filing work of many AOPs and individuals have come to a standstill amid fear of being declared ‘Non-Filer’. FBR’s reluctance to address this perennial issue and extend the date is beyond comprehension and bound to penalize genuine taxpayers for no fault of their own.

SITE Association members have demanded the Finance Minister and the FBR take immediate notice of the prevailing situation and extend the last return filing date by at least 15 days.
