Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi hosted a press conference at Haseena Moin Hall to unveil details about the upcoming Sindh Premier League. The event saw the participation of key figures, including the caretaker Provincial Minister of Information, Minority Affairs, Social Protection, and President Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, as well as the caretaker Provincial Minister of Culture and Sports, Syed Junaid Ali Shah, Sindh Premier League President Arif Malik, and renowned cricketers Abdul Razzaq and Chaudhry Shehzad.
Caretaker Provincial Minister Muhammad Ahmed Shah announced the commencement of the Sindh Premier League (SPL) on January 25. The conference aimed to shed light on the details of this highly anticipated sports event. Caretaker Provincial Minister Muhammad Ahmed Shah began by acknowledging the myriad challenges faced by the people of Sindh, asserting their right to happiness. He shared the exciting news of the SPL, featuring teams from six regions of Sindh and including the participation of Sindhi children in the national league. Highlighting cricket’s enduring popularity, Shah emphasized its role as a unifying force that brings joy to the entire nation.
He praised the forthcoming SPL as a significant league and expressed the full support of the Sindh government. Shah announced that the first day of the SPL would be free for all attendees, while those without free access could purchase tickets for Rs. 100. He encouraged Karachi’s youth to support the league, either by attending matches in the stadium or watching on TV, thereby providing a platform for local talent to shine. Caretaker Provincial Minister of Culture and Sports, Syed Junaid Ali Shah, shared his personal connection to cricket and expressed optimism about the SPL providing a platform for young talent in Sindh.
He thanked Caretaker Provincial Minister Muhammad Ahmed Shah for engaging the media and stressed the need for a comprehensive sports calendar in the province. Responding to the journalist’s question, Muhammad Ahmed Shah clarified that the Arts Council aims to bring joy to every citizen in Karachi and expressed support for positive initiatives. He encouraged the continuation of such beneficial programs, emphasizing the importance of not hindering the citizens’ happiness. In a joint effort to promote sports, Caretaker Provincial Ministers announced the organization of the Karachi Marathon post-election, underlining their commitment to fostering a culture of sports in Sindh, a province known for its sports. Arif Malik, President of the Sindh Premier League, provided further details about the league’s inception and its role in promoting cricket among Sindhi youth.
He highlighted the support received from the Sindh government and urged citizens to register and attend matches to back the players. Malik expressed gratitude to the Governor of Sindh for his support and announced the release of the original song of the Sindh Premier League on the 25th. Renowned cricketer Abdul Razzaq expressed gratitude to the Sindh government for organizing the league and commended the ministers for their support. He emphasized the importance of collective efforts and invited all cricket lovers in Karachi to contribute to this ongoing charitable initiative.
