Sindh Education Minister will be the chief guest at literary event –

Being organized by the children’ premier Urdu Monthly Sathee, the 15th edition of the Sathee Writers’ Awards for the year 2019 is being held at the Karachi Arts Council today. Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah will be the chief guest on the occasion, which happens to be one of the subcontinent’s largest annual literary events solely dedicated to children’s literature.

Every year, Sathee Writers’ Awards are given to most prolific Urdu writers, poets and essayists for their valuable contributions to children’s literature. Pakistan’s leading poets, writers, educationists and intellectuals will grace the one of its kind literary festival celebrating children’s literature. More prominent names include Moin Uddin Aqeel, renowned scholar, Pirzada Qasim, former vice chancellor, Karachi University, Syed Abdul Rasheed, Member, Sindh Assembly, Athar Ali Hashmi, veteran Urdu journalist, Ahmed Shah, President, Karachi Arts Council, Prof. Dr. Tanzeem-ul-Firdous, Chairperson of the Karachi University’s Urdu Department, Shahid Risam, renowned artist, Anwar Shaoor, senior Urdu poet, Ambreen Haseeb Amber, and many others.

Started in 1977 in a single-roomed office, Monthly Sathee has emerged as the most popular children’s Urdu monthly in the subcontinent. Despite severe financial setbacks and lack of support by government and literary societies, the magazine is an embodiment of lifelong efforts made by the lot of Urdu writers as well as the publisher.
