SSGC disconnects 858 illegal connections

In its attempt to provide uninterrupted gas to its customers in the franchise areas of Sindh and Balochistan, the Sui Southern Gas Company Ltd. has increased its efforts to eliminate gas theft from society. In coordination with the distribution and Customer Relations Department teams, the Security Services and Counter Gas Theft Operations (SS&CGTO) Department have raided multiple areas where illegal connections have been identified and removed on the spot.

In a recent joint raid carried out by the SS & CGTO team along with SSGC Police and Recovery Department at a Garments Factory in Surjani Town, the team arrested Syed Farman Ali, s/o Syed Basit Ali, who was using gas directly through the Company’s service line to run a generator. The total connecting load was 150cft/hr, which has been disconnected upon arrest of the culprit, and appropriate claims will be raised against him. Meanwhile, in another raid carried out at Standard Memoni Khausa Restaurant at Dhoraji, Karachi, SSGC police have filed an FIR against Sajid Khan, s/o Abdul Raheem, who was accessing gas directly through the Company’s pipeline to run his business. All illegal connections have been disconnected; appropriate claims will be made later.

In Karachi alone, 461 illegal connections have been removed in multiple areas of the city, including the F.B. Area, Nazimabad, Malir, Lyari, Bin Qasim Town, Surjani Town, and multiple parts of the central region. In Balochistan, 318 disconnections were made, with the largest number of disconnections being made in Quetta.

In Hyderabad, 70 illegal connections have been removed, whereas in Nawabshah and Larkana, 5 and 14 were removed, respectively. Gas theft is a nuisance that has made the lives of SSGC’s esteemed customers difficult, and the Company will stop at nothing to uproot this evil from society.
