Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance & Revenue, assured the chemicals and dyes trade that key issues regarding taxation, import, and the Export Facilitation Scheme (EFS) would be addressed at the parliamentary level. He encouraged continuous engagement between the business community and government rather than focusing solely on the federal budget.
At the Pakistan Chemicals & Dyes Merchants Association (PCDMA) annual dinner, Mandviwalla stated that concerns related to EFS, additional taxes, and the differences between commercial and industrial importers should be raised throughout the year. He committed to discussing these issues with the Federal Board of Revenue and other relevant bodies.
PCDMA Chairman Salim Valimuhammad highlighted the need for measures to prevent EFS misuse, calling for urgent resolutions to tax disparities and e-invoicing issues. He noted a significant increase in EFS imports without a matching rise in exports and proposed linking EFS imports to actual foreign remittances or letters of credit, alongside the withdrawal of the additional sales tax.try of Finance, and the BR.
