SBP releases the inaugural research agenda for 2026-2029

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has launched its inaugural Research Agenda for 2026-2029. The Research Agenda reflects SBP’s research priorities in an evolving global and domestic economic landscape, characterized by rapid technological advancements, recurring supply shocks, climate change, and persistent structural challenges. In line with SBP’s statutory objectives and the SBP Vision 2028, the Agenda provides a comprehensive roadmap to strengthen the analytical underpinnings of the central bank’s policy formulation and regulatory design.

The Research Agenda is systematically organized around three strategic core themesInflation Dynamics and Monetary PolicyFinancial Sector Deepening, Soundness, and Efficiency; and Structural Transformation and Economic Development. Within these broader themes, the agenda for the next three years aims to address existing research gaps and facilitate informed macroeconomic policymaking.

The Research Agenda also highlights the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing in addressing emerging challenges in the economic and financial sectors. As part of undertaking research outlined in the Agenda, SBP aims to actively engage and collaborate with academics, policy researchers, government bodies, and other external stakeholders at both individual and institutional levels.
