Saudia Group has formed a strategic agreement with GE Aerospace to equip its new fleet of 39 Boeing 787 aircraft with GEnx-1B engines. This partnership includes a multi-year maintenance and overhaul program designed to build local aerospace expertise through training initiatives.

His Excellency Engr. Ibrahim Al-Omar emphasized that the agreement enhances Saudia’s long-haul capabilities and aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 by developing in-country technical skills. The GEnx engine family, renowned for its reliability, powers most 787s globally and has significant operational history.

This agreement has implications for Pakistan, as Saudi Arabia’s fleet expansion and enhanced maintenance capabilities may strengthen operational reliability on busy Pakistan-Saudi routes. Additionally, technical training initiatives could open up new opportunities for Pakistani aviation professionals, improving connectivity and service for countless travelers heading to the Kingdom.
