Rs120m floating jetty will be built at Korangi Fisheries Harbour, says Junaid Anwar Chaudhry

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, announced the start of construction on an environmentally efficient floating jetty at the Korangi Fisheries Harbour Authority, costing Rs120 million. This project aims to facilitate the offloading of export-quality fish catches and is expected to be completed by June 2026.

Chaudhry highlighted that the floating jetty will adjust to tidal variations, enhancing access for fishing vessels and improving efficiency for small-scale fisherfolk. The facility will include a dedicated offloading point and catch monitoring systems to promote sustainable fishing practices.

The project is designed to be cost-effective, particularly in areas with significant tidal fluctuations, and it prioritises environmental considerations to protect the marine ecosystem. Chaudhry believes this initiative will strengthen the fisheries sector and uplift coastal communities economically.
