Revolutionary Thriller ‘In Flames’ by Zarrar Kahn sparks a cinematic revolution in Pakistan

Renowned filmmaker Zarrar Kahn is poised to unveil a tantalising glimpse of his globally recognised psychological thriller masterpiece, “In Flames,” with the release of its teaser today. This highly anticipated film is set to captivate audiences in Pakistan with an exclusive 10-day screening at the Atrium Mall, Karachi, from the 20th of October to the 31st of October, 2023.

Anam Abbas, the film’s producer, whose earlier film Dagh Dagh Ujala is about Pakistan’s contemporary activists, believes that the Karachi-set ‘In Flames’ advocates for a compelling, revolutionary narrative in the Pakistan film industry. This truly trailblazing film is carving out a new space in Pakistan.

Executive Producer Shant Joshi, an award-winning producer and president of Fae Pictures, based in Los Angeles and Toronto, has garnered acclaim for his outstanding international projects.

Directed and written by the talented Pakistani filmmaker Zarrar Kahn, ‘In Flames’ explores the consequences of living in the confines of a fiercely patriarchal society. It seeks to illuminate the psychological impact of oppression and the complexities of young love in Pakistan. ‘In Flames’ intends to immerse you in the dusty beauty of Karachi, allowing you to witness the difficult choices that must be made to survive another day. It tells a captivating story centred on the struggles a mother and daughter face in the wake of the patriarch’s untimely demise.

It has garnered global appreciation and recognition at prestigious international film festivals such as the 76th Cannes Film Festival, the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival and the Busan International Film Festival.
