Qatar’s Consul General visits KATI

Pakistan workforce in Qatar would significantly be increased in coming years. Qatar has opened visa on arrival for Pakistani nationals and there is certainly need to enhance relations between both countries.  This was stated by Mishal Mohammad Al-Ansari, the Consul General of Qatar in Karachi during his address at Korangi Association of Trade & Industry. On this occasion, Muhammad Danish Khan, President KATI, Masood Naqi, Chairman Diplomatic Affairs Committee of KATI, Faraz-ur-Rehman, Senior Vice President KATI, Maheen Salman, Vice President KATI, Former Chairman/President including Ehtishamuddin, Tariq Malik and Mubarak Saeed Al Marri, Deputy Head at Qatar Consulate also participated in the meeting.

Muhammad Danish Khan, President KATI highlighted the cordial and friendly relations between Qatar and Pakistan. Praising Qatar’s remarkable development with an impressive GDP Growth and an increase of Trade in last two years, he emphasized that we need to find new era of economic development between both countries. Sighting future relations, Mr. Danish Khan emphasized on the need of enhancing exports from Pakistan to Qatar and expressed that we look forward to improve trade & investment relations, particularly in fields like energy and food processing.

Masood Naqi, Chairman Diplomatic Affairs Committee of KATI, emphasized on the need to process and manufacture goods in Pakistan which can be exported to Qatar. He viewed that with an agreement to supply $16 billion worth of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from Qatar to Pakistan for 20 years, trade volume between the two countries has gone up. However, the balance of payment is in favor of Qatar. He mentioned importance of setting strong foundation of trade relations which can go a long way.

Mishal Mohammad Al-Ansari, Consul General of Qatar shared that with mega development going on for 2022 FIFA World Cup, this is the right time to invest in Qatar as remarkable progress is taking place in technology, energy, agriculture, tourism, education and other key sectors, encompassing complete ownership to foreign investors. He also informed that foreign investors will be exempted from custom duties. Consul General of Qatar shared that his country is on the move to accomplish the 2030 Vision which is aimed to further advance Qatar’s economy.

Importantly, it was decided that a delegation of KATI would soon visit Qatar and explore business opportunities. Encouragingly, the Consul General of Qatar promised to extend all his support in making this visit of KATI’s delegation a reality in 2019.
