Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has partnered with ConnectHear to install SILA, an AI-powered sign language agent, in its customer care centers in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. This initiative aims to enhance accessibility for Deaf customers, allowing them to communicate directly with service representatives in sign language without needing a human interpreter.
PTCL’s Chief Marketing Officer, Amad Khan, emphasized the importance of meaningful connectivity and technology’s role in reducing barriers for the Deaf community. ConnectHear CEO Azima Dhanjee noted that this partnership shows technology’s potential to improve accessibility in customer service.
The collaboration has also produced solutions like SUNO, an AI-driven emergency alert system that communicates critical information in Pakistani Sign Language. Both organizations believe that technology is key to fostering equitable growth and development.
