On Monday, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh said that Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) could be enlisted for the privatisation program to make it more viable in serving the country. He addressed the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry event, which the chamber arranged in his honour to congratulate him on becoming a federal minister.

The minister emphasised the need for the induction of container vessels into the PSNC fleet, which currently comprises six tankers and five bulk carriers. Given the demands here, the container vessel is imperative.

During the six months (ending on 31st December 2023), the PNSC Group recorded a profit after tax of Rs.9.49 billion against Rs.11.99 billion in the corresponding period last year. The Group’s net profit margin declined slightly from 41% in the corresponding period last year to 40%.
