On the 37th day of the world Culture festival featured a presentation on “Graphic Design & Performing Arts” by Italian graphic designer Goffredo Pucctti, a theatre workshop “Scalambra”, the screening of the Palestinian Oscar-winning film “No Other Land,” four short theatre performances by a Sri Lankan theatre group under the title “Gathering Dust,” an energetic Dance Night 4.0 featured National and international Dancer’s.
During the film session, Palestinian Ambassador Dr Zuhair Mohammad Hamadallah Zaid and, Dr.Umair and President Arts Council Muhammad Ahmed Shah held a detailed discussion on the current situation in Palestine. Dr Zaid said he had wished to visit the Arts Council earlier, but circumstances did not allow it. He thanked Ahmed Shah for inviting him to the festival, adding that Palestine belongs not only to Arabs but to the entire Muslim Ummah. Speaking about the film, he said, “No Other Land” portrays the struggle, history, culture, and sacrifices of the Palestinian people, emphasising that the fight is not only for land but for identity and heritage.
He recalled his father’s role in the Palestinian resistance during a time when there was no media or publication to record history. Expressing deep emotion towards Pakistan, the Ambassador said that since his posting there, he had felt he was among his own people. Describing public affection, he said that when Pakistanis learn he is Palestinian, their attitude instantly changes, embracing him warmly and offering help. “We have received immense love from Pakistan,” he said, adding that Pakistanis have always stood by Palestine even before the creation of Pakistan.
President Arts Council Muhammad Ahmed Shah reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering stance, saying that the global youth now stands with Palestine and that the Palestinian situation is the most critical global issue today. Earlier in the day, Italian designer Goffredo Puccetti introduced students to the concept of global monograms and visual identity, stressing the need to design logos that are both meaningful and visually compelling.
The Italian theatre workshop “Scalambra”, led by actress Francesca Bizzari, focused on acting techniques, expression, and stage performance.
The Sri Lankan theatre segment “Gathering Dust” presented four plays, including Patterns of Our Genocides (on Palestine), Last Bus Eke Kathawa, Girls at Checkpoints, and The Certificate. Audiences applauded the diverse narratives and powerful performances.
The evening concluded with Dance Night 4.0, featuring dynamic performances by Alina Belyagina (Germany), Abdul Ghani (Pakistan), Jay C Val (Cameroon), Shaam (Syria) and Sovapa students, who captivated the audience with their collective stage presence and artistic energy, receiving prolonged applause at the packed auditorium.
