Pakistan’s seafood exports hit a record $568 million, Minister announces

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry has announced that Pakistan’s seafood exports have reached an unprecedented US$ 568 million, the highest level in the country’s history.

Speaking on the achievement, the minister highlighted that frozen fish remained the largest export category, with major destinations including China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, the United States, and several other markets in 10 countries. He attributed this success to the government’s Blue Economy reforms, which have significantly boosted marine product exports despite regional challenges.

Chaudhry praised the Marine Fisheries Department for maintaining international standards and commended Dr. Mansoor Wassan and his team for their dedicated efforts. He emphasized that the government is now focusing on value addition and exploring new export markets to sustain growth.

“This record success is a collective achievement, and all stakeholders deserve congratulations,” the minister stated, reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s position in global seafood trade.
