He emphasized that the 9.38% growth in textile exports is undoubtedly a positive development for Pakistan’s economy. The encouraging remarks by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif must have reassured exporters, as textile exports have reached a record level of $13.613 billion, which is highly encouraging. However, there is an urgent need to identify new markets and export not only textiles but also all surplus products that have international demand. If we delay, rival countries may seize these opportunities.
Amaan Pracha further stated that the national economy is moving in the direction of improvement. For the first time in history, the current account surplus has increased by more than $1 billion. Due to a rise in remittances, the current account surplus for March reached $1.19 billion. Over the first nine months of the fiscal year, the current account recorded a surplus of $1.85 billion, compared to a surplus of $363 million in March 2024.
For the first time in the country’s history, remittances have surpassed $4 billion. Thanks to record monthly remittances from overseas Pakistani workers, March’s current account surplus reached a historic $1.19 billion.
He said this success was made possible by controlling imports to address the issue of external payments. Amaan Pracha credited the concerted efforts of Army Chief General Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif for the country’s economic stability. He added that to maintain this momentum, political parties must support the government, as stability in the country will also foster healthy politics.
