A delegation of dairy farmers from Pakistan arrived in Izmir, Turkey, earlier this week. Led by Shakir Umar Gujjar, the President of the Dairy Cattle and Farmers Association of Pakistan, the delegation visited the Agro Expo and the historic R&D Dairy Farmhouse, which is over 150 years old. During their trip, they explored various pavilions at the Agro Expo and signed agreements to purchase machinery from several Turkish companies. The delegation includes dairy farmers from Punjab, Balochistan, and Sindh.

Additionally, the Pakistani farmers participated in training sessions at the “Agro Expo,” which attracts representatives from the agricultural sector worldwide.

In a media interview, Shakir Umar Gujjar noted the valuable learning opportunities from their visit to Turkey’s R&D Dairy Farmhouse, emphasizing that Turkish farmers are revolutionizing the agriculture sector through modern technology. He remarked that the experiences of Turkish farmers would be highly beneficial, as agriculture is the backbone of the Pakistani economy. Gujjar stressed the importance of modern technology in the agricultural sector, stating that Pakistan cannot compete globally without it. He also highlighted that modern machinery is essential for fostering a farming revolution and confirmed that multiple agreements have been made to procure this machinery in Turkey.

Notably, Agroexpo 2024, Turkey’s largest agricultural fair and one of the four largest in Europe, attracted 460 participants, including 85 foreigners. The event welcomed 108,512 visitors, 13,164 from 88 different countries. According to a note from Organsiro, 99.2% of the 460 participants from the previous year’s event reported having established business connections with more than 10 countries at the fair.

The AGROEXPO in Izmir, Turkey, is recognized as one of the leading fairs in agriculture and livestock. Since its inception in 2005, it has grown into one of the largest exhibitions of its kind in Turkey. It is among Europe’s four most significant international agricultural and livestock shows.
