The Pakistan Society of Clinical Oncology (PSCO), in collaboration with the SAARC Federation of Oncologists, has officially commenced Karachi ONCO 2026, the 27th Annual Cancer Congress, being held from January 23 to 25, 2026. The three-day scientific gathering brings together leading oncologists, researchers, and healthcare professionals from Pakistan and across the globe under the theme “Stronger Alliance – Cancer Defiance,” highlighting the importance of collaboration and shared scientific strength in confronting cancer.
The congress will continue through January 24 and 25, featuring a comprehensive scientific program focused on emerging trends and innovations shaping contemporary oncology practice. A major highlight of Karachi ONCO 2026 is the expanding role of artificial intelligence in oncology, with expert-led sessions examining how AI is transforming cancer research, diagnostics, treatment planning, and clinical decision-making. Emphasis is placed on the responsible and ethical integration of technology to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and patient outcomes while preserving the essential role of clinical expertise and human judgment.
In addition to AI-driven advancements, the congress addresses key pillars of modern cancer care, including immunotherapy, molecular profiling and next-generation sequencing, and precision radiotherapy techniques such as stereotactic radiosurgery. Through case-based discussions and real-world clinical experiences, sessions explore how personalised and targeted treatment strategies are being effectively implemented in routine practice to improve safety and therapeutic outcomes.
Speaking at the opening of the congress, Dr. Azhar Rashid, President of PSCO and Chair of ONCO 2026, stated: “Karachi ONCO 2026 reflects the evolving landscape of oncology, where innovation, technology, and human compassion must progress together. Dedicated sessions on emotional intelligence address the psychological challenges faced by oncologists, while platforms such as Women for Oncology focus on the unique needs of women with cancer, emphasising early diagnosis, personalised treatment pathways, survivorship care, counselling, and patient-centred support.
Recognizing the emotional demands placed on oncology professionals, the program includes reflective discussions under the theme “Healing the Healers,” emphasizing physician wellbeing and the importance of supporting healthcare providers who work tirelessly alongside patients through illness, uncertainty, and loss.
